![]() The only other thing that springs to mind is that silver keeps out evil, you use it to kill vampires and werewolves. It's obviously a deathly trope in American folk and blues. Ballad of Jane Lyrics: Pray to Jane our God and master / To a ceiling made of plaster / The upstairs neighbors are stomping on it / They love blue 'cause it's infinite / Dying hero a rapist icon. There are a couple of blues songs that have verses which go something like "Dig my grave with a silver spade - let me down the golden chain". Not much explaining what it actually means. Is this just some nickname that would have seemed normal in the 1900s? Is she Crow Jane because she's a prideful woman who keeps "crowing" about herself? Is this some American slang or other thing I don't know? Is this to do with Jim Crow? To me it seems like a man talking about a woman who is too prideful, so he kills her, only to realize he misses her now that she's gone.
